The project, first created for military purposes in the United States in 1969 and called ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Authority Net), aims to coordinate communication through interconnected computers in the defense of the country. The project, which was created by considering the goal of not interrupting the flow of information even in the event of interruption of communication with any computer, also forms the basis of today's Internet. After the ARPANET, new networks called NSFNET (National Science Foundation) and Compuserve for commercial purposes were launched in 1986 to enable universities to share for scientific purposes. TCP /IP (Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol) protocol has also been put into operation as a ‘common language’ in this context in order to enable different computers to communicate with each other in a healthy way. WWW (World Wide Web), developed after TCP/IP, is an extension that allows all information published over the Internet to be collected on the same channel and users to access it through a single channel. Thanks to WWW, it has become possible to publish and access data of different structures, such as text, images, audio, animation, video, and so on.
WHO CONTROLS THE INTERNET?
There is no institution that has taken responsibility for the Internet in general. However, it would not be correct to say that there is no audit or that there are no certain standards. Especially today, serious steps are being taken on this issue and there are government institutions. Many internet-based malicious transactions have already become prohibited by law. In addition, although there was no institution that had sanctions power in the past, there are many institutions that now have sanctions power. The states make their own rules on this issue. There are also various groups working under the Internet Architecture Board that “propose” the general structure and functioning rules of the Internet for the global standard. The most important and effective of these groups is the Internet Engineering Task Force (Internet Engineering Group) or IETF for short. Among the members of this group there are representatives of software and hardware manufacturers, states and international organizations. Dec.
The technical infrastructure of the Internet is based on three important concepts: server/client architecture, protocol stacks and packet-based communication. In this architecture, the software that requests information (and the information tool that this software runs on) is called a client, and the one that provides information is called a server. The common language that the server and clients use between them to be functional is also called the communication protocol. Dec.
The Internet provides corporate and personal users with the convenience of communicating with each other, accessing information resources, and purchasing products and services. Although these users access the Internet using regular telephone lines, usually through a computer and modem, there are also alternative means of information and connection technologies.
There are four important groups in the main economic cycle of the Internet: users, content providers, sellers of products and services, and access providers. Content providers are all persons and institutions that make any information accessible via the Internet.
For all of us, a world without the Internet feels quite difficult at the moment. It began to touch every area of our lives. We are now doing many of our transactions through this network. We can access the Internet from almost anywhere in the world. Of course, not all of it, but the area we can reach is quite wide. So how does this system cover the whole world?
Internet technology has almost no physical equivalent for many users. Any of our shares arrive in less than a second or a second or two. How does an email sent to the other side of the world arrive in seconds? Or how can we talk so fluently with a friend who lives in America in a video way?
HOW DOES THE INTERNET WORK?
The Internet is a system that operates outside of central control in a way that is independent of restrictions and borders. The connection of computers to a network is called the Internet. The Internet arises as a result of the use of transfer control points known as TCP/IP. The Turkish meaning of the word Internet is general network. Thanks to the Internet, it is quite easy to access information. Information from all over the world can be accessed with a single click. Regardless of the current location, it is possible to access every information via the Internet with a single click.
It is a system that works with Internet servers and servers. The servers serve all the computers and work directly connected in this way. There are 3 different types of Internet. These varieties are as follows;
Electronic mail server, Data Server and Web Server
All servers have one static IP address. A connection is made between all computers using IP addresses. Dec. Computers used in homes connect to the Internet with the service provider. This situation is called wireless Internet. The computers in the house are called clients. Service providers connect to the IP addresses of computers to enable the use of the Internet.
